As Farmlands horticultural specialists, Skeltons provides the best technical advice and products to commercial growers to maximise quality production.
Biological and Organic
Skeltons investment in the industry and our commitment to developing and researching new methods and technologies is demonstrated by the company’s national Biological and Organic Unit based in Hawke’s Bay.
Skeltons introduced a specialised Biological Unit to its services in 2010.
The team is responsible for evaluating and establishing practices to assist growers to produce crops in sustainable growing systems.
Newly appointed National Organic and Biological Unit manager Gareth (Gaz) Ingram (link to bio) brings to Skeltons more than 16 years’ horticulture industry experience and holds tertiary qualifications in both Horticulture and Organics.
Gaz will focus on bringing organic, biological and conventional products and methods together to assist ecologically sustainable crop production.
Organic
Skeltons has a long-standing involvement with the New Zealand organic industry, working with pip and stone fruit growers since 1997 when conversions to organics began. Since then we have been heavily involved in providing advice to growers on the development of organic methods and requirements.
Malcolm Crawford, recently retired and one of Skeltons longest serving technical advisors, is considered a pioneer and his expertise was widely sought after by both industry and grower alike.
